This is Tipstar, the tipster site for news buffs tired of the sloppy, biased, and braindead reportage filtered the by the Corporate Blob Mind. Here, users come together to combine knowledge and expertise to micro-crowd fund everything from questions asked in a press conference to deep-dive investigations.
Users discuss, argue, and collaborate on objectives in a familiar social media format. You can comment to provide your personalized feedback and enter the conversation. Downvote if you don’t like what you’re seeing. Upvote comments as you see fit. But the posts themselves can only be upvoted if you pay. Amounts start at $1, but if it’s really important, up your ante!
Why?
Because that money is going towards the journalist or reporter who completes the post’s objective.
So it’s not so much the number of upvotes that counts, but the value users assign to that post that matter.
There’s one more payee to consider: the user. Posts that count as completed objectives not only pay out to the reporter (or their team) who completed the task, a portion also goes to the Original Poster who came up with idea.
That’s right. You can get paid to be an awesome OP!
This aligns a new system of incentives with the grass roots, hacking the corporate media to finally be responsive to their actual audience!
You’re the proverbial tipster, but you’re also leaving an actual monetary tip to the dutiful reporter, and you also have a chance to become a newsroom star in your right. That’s why we call this site TIPSTAR!
